What is Flashing on Your Roof?

Flashing is an integral part of the roof and it consists of pieces of material installed in places where two parts of the roof are joined, such as around chimneys, skylights and vent pipes, to prevent water from penetrating into the deeper layers of the roof structure.  All of the qualified and best Chicago roofers will tell you that flashing is a step that cannot be skipped or done incorrectly.

Roof flashing is made from corrosion resistant, impervious material, usually metal or metal alloys,

However, if you are uncomfortable working at heights or you lack the dexterity to do DIY installations, you can also turn to professional roofers to install the flashing for you – it is a very important process that improves the integrity of your roofing, but it is an affordable intervention, even if you hire professionals to do it.
